Take a leap back to the fur trade era. Let our character recount the adventurous life of the coureurs de bois. Learn how to trade with the First Nations and recognize animal tracks and furs. Sing popular tunes from the past, participate in a historical objects quiz, and learn more about life in New France.

Barter: From the Longhouse to the Wigwam
In this role-playing activity, students are invited to portray members of the Huron-Wendat Nation and members of the Algonquian peoples in a commercial exchange activity. It allows students to review their knowledge and acquire new information about the lifestyle of Iroquoian and Algonquian societies in the 16th century.
The activity includes a visit to the Huron-Wendat Museum and the national longhouse.
Duration: 1.5 hours

The activity can be easily adapted to meet the needs of special education groups or individuals with disabilities.
